Super Duplex S32750 and 254SMO for Marine Industries

Following the “IMO 2020”, ships are required to reduce the SOx emissions to the limit. This means ships must use fuel oil which is inherently low enough in sulphur, or install an appropriate exhaust “alternative” method, in order to meet IMO requirements. While some ships are using very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to comply with the new limit, some ships limit the air pollutants by installing exhaust gas cleaning systems, also known as “scrubbers”. These scrubbers are designed to remove sulphur oxides from the ship’s engine and boiler exhaust gases.

At Murray Energy, we work closely with the leading shipyards and suppliers to supply Duplex, Super Duplex and Super Austenitic Stainless Steel for the manufacturing of these scrubbers, which are then installed on the ships. To meet the challenging demand and stringent specifications, Murray Energy will only procure products from suppliers with audited quality systems and who can meet the highest of standards required to be associated with Murray Energy.
